An Operational Support Unit (OSU) was activated during the Ghislengien
gas incident (30 july 2004-12 august 2004) to assist in the coordination
effort between the strikken company and the government bodies supervising
the incident response and the recovery efforts.
- CAMHIE ®: development of
atmospheric dispersion modelling software for the Belgian ministry of the interior
- Development of a civil defence COMAH safety report assessment methodology
- Emergency planning guide for educational facilities, in cooperation with the ministries
of the interior and of public education; to be issued freely in fourth quarter of 2004.
- SEPP: development of a national standard for emergency and disaster plans
- Nokeos test bed: federal research project with FPC nv, Softcell nv and a steering
group, aimed at developing a technology demonstrator for nation wide computer-assisted
emergency management
