International Coastal (CO) Flood (FL) Exercise (EX) as part of the EU 'Chain of Safety' project.

CEMAC was charged with the development of a new pre-standard for public sector coastal flood emergency plans and the organisation and evaluation of a two day bi-national coastal flood exercise.

 

The project involved two components:

 

  1. The creation of a new standard for public sector coastal flood emergency plans: coast flood are large scale events, both in terms of geography of the stricken area and in complexity and scope of the emergency operations that have to be generated. The creation of a new coastal flood emergency plan covered both aspects: the mobilisation of a massive amount of emergency response units and assets, the description of the variety of processes necessary to face the flood in the acute and post-emergency phases.
  2. The organisation and evaluation of the first ever bi-national coastal flood exercise:
